The Transportation Program works with state officials from the 15 ERC member jurisdictions to provide a safe, healthy and efficient transportation system essential to the social and economic life of the Northeast. Building, maintaining and in some instances operating a transportation system that is equitable, energy-efficient, environmentally-sensitive and affordable is a monumental task. Transportation’s direct link to economic competitiveness dictates a strong federal funding role. The Committee is working with the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials (NASTO) to ensure that the region’s unique set of needs and characteristics are respected in the allocation of federal funds.
